ZAPATAK
URRATZEN (2021)

We have started to wear out the shoes that we premiered in Astigarraga in 2020. We are pursuing the same objectives as then: to promote the performing arts, create new audiences and build loyalty among existing ones.

The project will have several aspects. The first is already underway:

Without walls

Every month, we will take to the Erribera stage to break the fourth wall and encourage dialogue between artists and audiences. On each occasion, we will introduce the artists and their work before the show begins and, at the end of the show, we will open the doors to dialogue. The audience will get to know the person behind the character.

Astigarraga will have the opportunity to get to know the professionals of the Performing Arts and their work in depth: who they are, where they come from, what is the philosophy of the artistic team, what is the starting point for the creation of the show, their references…

is show aims to put migrants and marginalised groups centre stage. We have approached these people, worked with them and with the help of the performing arts we have displayed their reality.

It is a clear example of the options offered by theatre to establish a dialogue. The project succeeded in creating fans, drawing new audiences and building their loyalty.

TXARRIBODA
(on tour)

These are the questions we ask ourselves every day: how to make our work known, how to attract the public, and how to have a good time with them. How? One of the ways is to share the process. Intermediary work: share the creative process with a community of a town or city and create ongoing feedback during the première.

The TXARRIBODA creative process is set to take place in five different towns and cities: Hernani, Azpeitia, Durango, Errenteria and Donostia-San Sebastian, and aims to get people from different backgrounds to feel part of the creative process.

In each performance the members of the audience will also be on the guest list. And in each show there will be local artists to liven up the banquet: extempore verse makers, dancers, musicians, singers, etc.

(BLANK NOTEBOOK)

We created a community in Hernani with the KOADERNOA ZURI play.
Initially, we shared the process with a small community of individuals and pursued the path together until the work was premièred.

Mutually enriching, but above all by enriching the project itself and providing it with a broader projection on a communication level.

(CULTURE SCHOOL programme. Chartered Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa)

Sormenaren parte izan (Being part of creativity) is the outcome of the project run at High Schools by the EAB (Actors’ Union of the Basque Country), with the support of the Chartered Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa. This 30-minute play directed by Agurtzane Intxaurraga is geared towards being performed at the schools themselves.

It has a cast of five actors and the script, based on the students’ opinions gathered when the initiative was launched (2018) and on the actors’ improvisations, was written by Agurtzane Intxaurraga herself.

The play covers a whole range of issues: hypocrisy, marginalisation, being and feeling different, cowardice, boy and girl roles, defiance, but there is one overriding one: THE GANG: the human structure that takes pride of place above all else among teenagers.

The project is part of the Culture School initiative of the Chartered Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.
